Sketches and Progress:During this project, I faced a lot of difficulty and block. I had to force myself to finish. I think the most difficult part was the detail and the rocky shore. It's very pleasing to the eye, but after working on each individual rock for days, I was sick of even thinking about a rock. I think next time I'd like to spend more time on a project like this.
Acrylic Eye
In progress:The color wheel on the left is done with a warmer toned palette, and the right was done with brighter, more neutral colors. The reason I did this was to help understand how to mix the colors and make colors that were a bit more complicated. Learning and reviewing the basics was a lifesaver in my other acrylic projects.
Final Product:I knew as soon as I started this project that I wanted to do something relating to Halloween. Since the theme was interior spaces I decided to go with a painting with a view from inside of a jack-o-lantern. I struggled a bit getting the colors the way I wanted them and the paint always seemed to dry a bit too fast. I feel that in the end I did a good job and I learned how to work with this medium. Sketches and Progress:This was my first time using acrylic paint in years. It's safe to say I missed it, but it's also quite annoying. It dries quickly, but I think that's my only critique for the medium. I chose this flower mainly because of the bright colors against the gray background, it caught my eye (and purple is one of my favorite colors). |
